Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Lake Natron Wilderness Mobile.
This helps you move deep in the wilderness areas and definitely the most un restrictive  way to experience the beauty of Lake Natron.

In Tz, Lake Natron is the furthest in the Northern Rift Valley and definitely visited by a few people.

In combination with Serengeti National park, its possible to visit this area using a Mobile camp as well as places like Leliondo and Ngorongoro Crater and highlands can be visited.

Round the slopes of Ol donyo Lengai and Lake Natron shores, game drives are possible using this Mobile camps as well as Walking safaris or a combination of both.

Despite its beautiful scenery, Lake Natron is not all time game viewing, except in the dry season when a number of animals are attracted to drink in the surrounding areas.

The light weight camp allows you to move in the remote areas of Northern Tanzania since the camp allows flexibility, you can move every day on your pace and spend a few days in each location.

The camps tents allow large walking space, in loos and out side beds are camp beds and are very comfortable.

Chada Katavi Accommodation Tanzania

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Chada Katavi Accommodation.
An under stated stylish Camp.
The camp has had its substantial up grade recently after a strong deliberation by its owners who got concerned about losing the great standards of Chada.
As a result, Chada Camp is now well-designed comfortable and stylish camp.
The spacious campaign six tents are Khaki, Canvas Immaculate (With brass fitting and leather). With each placed in a large tree shade with views to Chada plains. (It sits in a grove of acacia and tamarinds).

Inside the tents, beds are made of wood and suede head-boards, would fail to look out a place in smartest. For you to put your clothes, there are hanging leather shelves and a writing desk.
There is a lot of space with the fact that instead of the door being on a short side, the whole long side (under the apex of the roof) opens in the middle of the day.

You can make the best of your breeze by reading, relaxing on your bed and if you choose to zip your tent, then it becomes easy especially at night as the tents have wrap-around mosquito. You can still have the view through the nets windows for 360 degrees. (No one can see in as you close them).

Bath rooms.
Behind each tent, there sits a private bathroom. The traditional set up-filled on request, a bucket shower, 20 litres of water, table and Chada plain loos are not flush lavatories, but are wooden seats over a hole.
This was meant to reduce the sound effect, but not a short cut. And for people most interested in having flush loo, this camp is not meant for you.

Dining.
It’s a central dining tent under the trees so everyone eats in a group, dishes are highly of good quality. Its worthy to visit the kitchens before you go since these are really small bush camps. You would really believe in the food being cooked due to the quality of equipments used in this safari.
It makes Katavi a more exciting place to explore since it lacks infrastructure in form of roads.

Game drives.
In open-sided land rovers, game drives are on shared basis, with canvas, sun shades and 150 per day can be used to organize private vehicle as a result at Sand rivers. The key aspect at Chada is flexibility. Morning and evening drives are made or head off all day with picnics.

Your guide and manager will look out for the best place for you to go depending on your choice. At the moment, few National Parks are like Katavi where walking is freely allowed since it has a few visitors. It also has safari walks from Chada in the dry season (June-October), the few rivers that connect the main flood plains become attracted to the large numbers of animals as well as being accompanied by a number of predators along the banks.

Over a number of days, flying supported vehicles are available for camping trips. This becomes more exciting as you cam walk from Chada Camp as in Selous for 1 or 2 hours  at a time.
To enjoy Katavi, its better to combine walking and driving by a land rover, accompanied by armed rangers. Here you can drive deep in the wilderness to find the game and feel spontaneous, which is of enormous value.

It is well worthy to take a fly camp (not more than $100pp), whilst staying at Chada.
It’s the lowest impact to experience the bush, but generally the most exciting.
With no drought, Katavi is one of the best places to experience the wilderness.
The light weight camps organized by Chada Camps offer a destination of all the best elements used in safari.

The camps offer excellent services, food, hot showers as well as experienced Guides, with the completion of the Wild Immersion Promise.

After dining at night, you sleep on bed rolls in the open on the ground in designed mosquito net tents. You can lie on your back and see the stars as well as hearing the lions a few hundred yards a way roaring.

The camps though basic, are utterly exhilarating and are comfortable.  For a single night, they can be fantastic, contrast to serious luxury or a seven-day Walking safari Mobile Camp.

Plantation Lodge Karatu, Lodge Safaris Tanzania

Plantation Lodge Karatu
Despite of not being at Ngorongoro Crater rim, this plantation lodge is good for those enjoying large impersonal lodges in Ngorongoro. Its found on the farm just below the Ngorongoro Forest Reserve.

The hotel is privately owned.from Lake Manyara. It’s a short drive, less than an hour’s drive from Ngorongoro.
The plantation lodge is on a working coffee and arable farm outside Kavuti.
It’s a small hotel with 16 comfortable and intimate filled rooms for a well-run home bush.
The rooms have very large and were decorated by some one with an eye of detail.
Top quality food and services are offered.
It has one of the most attractive climates at 7000ft above sea level, with hot days and cool mornings and nights. Though from July to early September, there is small amount of low cloud that hungs around the edge of the highlands, feeling more like Scotland in Africa.

After visits to Tarangire National Park or Manyara and Ngorongoro, its good to spend a night or 2. One can access Lake Eyasi Easily from here.
One cant see the animals from your bedroom, but you get to experience the wonderful climate taste. You can take walks around the forest to nearby waterfalls or to the farm land.

Pemba Afloat.
Its an ideal place for one looking for adventure on an island. Two 60-foot yachts moored in a remote inlet-the Njau Gap-at (Pemba Island), the Northern end which make up Pemba Afloat.

Found by Phillip Mason, a man who has knowledge of the area and years of experience, there is access to unspoilt sandy beaches that appear at low tide and are not accessible by land.

Many places claim to be wild, remote and unspoilt, but Pemba really is.
If you feel lie not staying on the yacht, then rather take a flying camp in the Selous Game Reserve. Few places are left in the world where you can experience such.
This works well when you spend a few days at Funde Lagoon for a bit of adventure and then back to luxury.
Within  easy reach (the boats are moored) for some of the best diving locations like sheer walls that plunge a short distance from the shore for hundred feet and coral reefs.

Hum back whales mating were experienced by Phillip a few years ago, within a short distance from the boats, he saw spinner dolphins large groups cascading along the shore.

This place has a magical appeal even if you are not into diving, when you sit on the deck under the stars and sleeping on the boat. Looking at the water reflections, you start to believe that you are very far away from anywhere.

Kifaru Lodge Tanzania

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Kifaru Lodge.
Its set on the edge of the forest reserve in the farmland outside Karatu.
From Ngorongoro Crater and Highlands, its about 24-hours drive from the camp and from Lake Manyara National park, it’s a 40-minutes drive.
Despite of being a small and very low-key lodge, it has a good intimate and friendly atmosphere all needed to enjoy yourself.

The rooms are simply decorated and not large enough. However, hey are conveniently placed in a comfortable area with a fireplace and a small ensuite bathroom. People eat together in a group in a central dinning room and accommodation is divided into 3 separate houses.  At a time the lodge takes 20 people maximum. To the edge of Manyara rift wall, there are stunning views over the Mubu high lands (Southeast).

During the morning time, Kifaru can be stuck in cold especially in July and August since its almost 7500 ft high. Despite of that, it’s the reason as t why the gardens are extremely fertile, giving birth to very high and quality yields of vegetables, fruits and many others, which they supply to the lodge kitchen and many other hotels in the area.

It’s a better place to spend your night between Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. The camp also offers great lakes to the local area as its in many other camps in Karatu lodge.
