Masai Safari Tanzania Kenya Africa
Maasai Safaris.
Visits to Maasai are generally more experienced and informative since there are few people who visit this area compared to other areas in Northern Tanzania. The Maasai place (Loliondo) lies on the Eastern edge of Serengeti National park.
Tourists trade more especially along the main roads, hence becoming a venture to raise revenue. In this area, you may have a chance to see some colourful displays. Reality starts and tourists drive theatre ends. To get a sense of reality of the daily life of the Maasai becomes easy and here you discover the most fascinating thing of seeing how the Maasai struggle to live in the most incredibly harsh environment.
By contrast in Loliondo you will be guided by the Maasai at less part you will feel as if you are in a dream as you might wonder weather it’s a village in France. Probably you get used to the culture and be prepared to interact with them through asking your selves different questions.
The Maasai are genuine pastoralists and they have limited this life forever 100 years ago with a few bicycles. The Maasai are one of the best natural conservationalists and as a result the area has been one of the world’s best game viewing areas until now since they poachers.
The Maasai only hunt for only one animal and that’s the lion (Stock raiding animal).
According to the Maasai culture and tradition to become a man you should have killed a lion. So killing a lion is part of your entry to manhood since they believe in nature and they have a saying “If the lions eat out cattle, then as a warrior, you should deal with this nature do something about it by killing the lion”.
In these places particularly Loliondo, you will experience the real Maasai life style when you get a chance of seeing their houses and you imagine in heavy rain when you look at the building materials. You may feel the Western life style in contrast to the 21st Century houses. However, sensible Maasai opt for corrugated iron roof.
Photography.
The Maasai people do not deal with photographs and to take it, you have to be permitted. Inherently, its believed that a camera took their soul away. (When my Aunt could believe the same).
Its believed to be true and during your visit, the only thing to do is ask questions, the guide will interpret for you. If they are not comfortable, stop asking questions. This depends on how they respond and finally respect people’s privacy.
