Katavi Safari
When to go.
The dry season is the best time for a safari to Katavi national park (between early June and October), with the end of October first rains.
This has been viewed traditionally as the best time to go on a safari in Katavi as it becomes easier to see the game in this period. The game concentrates more as it becomes more drier.
Clients appreciate more subtle distinctions these days than “dry = good and wet = bad”.
The stunning time for a Katavi safari are the seasons of December and February early green seasons.
The park becomes less stressed visibly of game than the end of dry season and the park becomes less concentrated of game.
Due to change of environment, it will become more harder to witness a few animals than in the end of the dry season.
Katavi has two climate change seasons. A rainy season from October or November to May, and dry season starting from June to October.
Temperatures range from 180C to 320C, while annual rainfall is about 900mm. However, you should not under estimate the green seasons while at Katavi.
