How to get there.
The only way to get to Katavi is by air since its too far away from any where. A private charter was used to fly to Katavi, until recently when Tanganyika Flying Company was introduced fro flights from Arusha twice a week to Katavi.
Its only a 50-minute flight Mahale to Katavi. This makes sense to visit both since Mahale is also too far.

Selous to Katavi 4 hours
Arusha to Katavi 31/2 hours
Ruaha to Katavi 50 minutes

Note: Driving time takes a number of days to reach Katavi.
