Emerson and Green Zanzibar
Emerson’s and Green.
Is situated in Zanzibar Stone town and has gained a reputation of being one of the most stylish places to stay over years. It was built as a private home in the 19th Century of a wealthy merchant and with size espressionally different amongst other things is his financial clout.
In stone town, its the 2nd tallest building and only tolerated by Sultan since his house was taller.
To the West over the sea and the Stone town, the views are a 360 panorama from the top.
With a great sense of style, the hotel is now privately owned. It has changed in style, with extensive decorations of Zanzibar antiques.
All this accounts to an appealing theatrical feeling of the Stone town’s sense of history. There are few hotels in Zanzibar, which offer the unusual luxury. You might prefer Serena in this way, but is not the right choice, then remains Emerson for a little un usual.
There is none of fabricated feel that pervades a number of hotels since it used to be a 19th
Century private home.
Rooms are individually decorated and designed with 10 rooms of different seizes ad shapes.
You can feel some how private within, since all rooms have large and elaborate baths with running ater and balconies.
The roof top restaurant is also another perfect thing at Emerson. Here you have a chance to eat on one of Emerson’s unusual settings high above the Stone town.
The smell and sight sounds all surround the hotel as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean and later in the night under light of the stars.
One of our visitors (seemed to love it), commented on the experience saying “the restaurant is a surprise which is best left un exploited”. Never mind on the quality of food but come for experience.
