Zanzibar Tours, Zanzibar Travel Safari

Day 1 – Zanzibar, Tembo House Hotel, 2 nights
Arrive Zanzibar Airport and you will be transferred to Tembo House Hotel.

Tembo House Hotel is a converted 19th Century building with a colorful history that includes a former slave exportation centre and a brief stint as the American Consulate (in 1884). Today the hotel, located on the waterfront, has been restored with all rooms decorated in Oriental and Zanzibar style. The rooms are spacious and offer air conditioning, telephone, mini-bar, multi-channel television and en suite bathroom.

The hotel has a spacious lounge facing the Indian Ocean. The swimming pool allows you to cool off during the heat of the day and there is a souvenir shop. The Bahari Restaurant features local and international cuisine and the front desk will arrange water sports, touring and picnics upon request. The hotel is Muslim owned and does not sell alcoholic drinks – there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

Day 2 – Stone Town & Spice Tour Zanzibar
Enjoy the morning exploring Stone Town at your own pace and then in the afternoon meet up with a guide to enjoy a Spice Tour.

As early as the 10th century, Persian merchants migrated to Zanzibar and the Portuguese secured a foothold with Vasco da Gama’s visit in 1499. Later came the Germans and the British. Over the centuries Zanzibar shipped out fortunes in ivory, rhino horn, gold, copper and spices. But to its infamy, it also provided the market for the great slave route that ran from Ujiji on Lake Tanganyika.

Still today, these islands exude their own blend of African, Arab and European colonial influences, a rich blend offering great contrast to mainland Tanzania. This juxtaposition of ancient and modern culture is clearly seen in the characteristically relaxed pace of modern life where elements remain unchanged since the 18th Century.

Day 3– Zanzibar Holiday Beach, Breezes Beach Club, 4 nights
Morning collection and transfer Breezes Beach Club for your 4 night stay.

Breezes Beach Club is on the eastern side of the island and is set in beautiful landscaped gardens on a untouched stretch of white sand beach. In the shade of palm trees, just a stroll to the beach are 10 two-storey ‘houses’ with red-tiled roves and wrap-around balconies. Each house is divided into two suites on the upper floor, each with a private terrace and semi-enclosed sitting area in addition to the bedroom and bathroom; and four deluxe rooms on the ground floor, with a smaller and less private terrace.

All the rooms were recently refurbished and have a super-wide, netted double bed, a sofa doubling up as a third bed, some easy chairs, a desk or table and a mirror. The beamed ceiling and dark wood of the furniture is African in feel but to be honest the décor is not particularly Swahili, which is a bit of a disappointment. The rooms are, however, very spacious though the en suite bathrooms are small. All rooms are air-conditioned, have two ceiling fans, a minibar and refrigerator.

There is a large swimming pool, a fitness center, shopping arcade that sells local crafts, tennis court and a water sports centre. There are four different restaurants within Breezes and 2 bar areas.

Breakfast is served in the large and open sided Salama room. For lunch there is a beachfront barbecue or you can order snacks at the pool. Dinner, also served in the Salama room, is usually a very good buffet that includes some Swahili dishes and a huge range of European fare. As in any good resort style hotel you will find something for everyone on the buffet – including fussy children! If you prefer a more up-market dining experience you should head to the candlelit seafood restaurant near the beach – Makuti serves the day’s catch including fresh crabs, lobster and tuna. There is also the option of a private dinner for two in a small cabana by the water. Every few nights there is some entertainment such as African dancing or a band.

Activities available from Breezes include various island tours, scuba diving and scuba courses, snorkeling cruises and the hire of bikes, windsurfers and canoes. There is the option of beauty treatments and massages etc at an excellent spa.
